We received a call regarding three morgans in need of help and when saw them, we knew we had to bring them home. Below are pictures of them when they came and what they look like now.
The previous owner said Gabey was a "little thin". We spent many nights in the barn hoping he would survive. In the beginning, he was without fat or muscling, but he possessed a powerful will to live. Of course, this desire to survive could not put weight on him any faster or rebuild his muscles in record time. For months, we watched him running through the pastures, his legs flailing every which way. We smiled. Never did we dream he would become so beautiful. He gets very jealous when the other horses are worked and he isn't. He is happily enrolled in training with Ginny Wickham Brown as a Western Pleasure horse with our sights set on the 2010 show season.
Tia, her first day here in her temporary stall.
Tia and Kim, looking good at Morgan Amateur Show, June 2009.
Tia was extremely thin upon arrival but her winter coat, matted with manure and urine, hid her bony skeleton. She didn't trust anyone. Kim spent a lot of time sitting in Tia's stall on a bucket reading, letting Tia get to know her and come to her on her own. Kim and Tia have a true bond. They will be showing Hunt Seat Pleasure this year.
In May of 2009, Kim & Tia competed at the NYS Breeders Show, taking a 5th in Morgan Hunter Pleasure Limit Horse. They also competed at the Morgan Amateur show this year. Their experiences both in and out of the ring have been priceless. Special thanks to everyone who has helped along the way! Can’t wait till next year!
White Chapel Viligante -Rippy-the first day of his life at Tantius Farm.
Rippy, now a gorgeous 6 yo..
Rippy came to us as a 3 yo with the scrawny body of a yearling. He had been stalled for 10 months and not been handled. He was standing on 3 ft of manure and boards he'd pulled from the ceiling. To get him out, Ginny broke out the back of the barn and he jumped out. She stood in the pasture and waited patiently for him to come up to her so she could get a lead rope on him to walk him into the trailer. He has matured into a gorgeous horse and a performer, wants everyone to watch him. He is in training with Ginny Wickham Brown and made his debut as a Western mount at the NYS Morgan Horse Regional Show, bringing home a 6th place. His sights are set on continuing his show career in 2010.
